Did you know ...

The NHS estimates that between 3 million and 6 million people in the UK may suffer from some form of urinary incontinence (1). The most common form of incontinence in women is stress incontinence (2). It is often brought on by pregnancy and menopause, and is caused by weak pelvic floor muscles, resulting in small leakages when the bladder is under pressure. For example when coughing, sneezing, laughing or during exercise. Performing the correct pelvic floor and core exercises are a great way to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles that support your bladder and can help you regain control.

THE WORKOUTS

Foundation Level - You start right back at the beginning with learning how to correctly breathe and reconnect with your core.

This sounds a lot easier than it actually is and I want you to really spend time here making sure you can do it correctly before moving on.

Level 1 - Breath with Movement

5 beginner exercise videos that really lay down the foundations so that we can build up on them.

Level 2 - Building Strength

8 exercise videos that start to incorporate some equipment to strength the core and pelvic floor.

Level 3 - Perfecting Everything

6 exercises videos that ensures you are ready for anything and everything. Things are more fun and challenging here and once you are fully comfortable at this level you will be able to put everything that you have learnt into practice.

Abdominal Separation

Unfortunately, many personal trainers do not know what Diastasis Recti is or how to work to improve it to truly strengthen the inner core. This leaves mums struggling with what and how to treat Diastasis Recti properly.

It is common for mums to jump right into exercise after the 6 week check up to attempt to "get their body back" by planking, doing crunches and other ab work, thinking that it will shrink and flatten the abs when actually it can make symptoms worse.

Without proper technique, you can fail to engage the core properly and continue to stress and pull apart the "gap" between the sides of the abdominal wall muscles, aggravating your symptoms.

This is why it is important to heal the deep inner core and pelvic floor from the INSIDE OUT!

Hi, I’m Fiona McGlynn

I'm an Orkney-based Massage Therapist, Yoga Instructor and Pre and Postnatal Coach on a mission to help others feel great with yoga and exercise - especially soon to be mothers and mummies to be. I am a mum of three fairly large boys that all weighed 10+lb at birth.

After my first pregnancy, I was fairly shocked about several things: 1. only hearing about diastasis recti for the first time and 2. the lack of information available about how to heal the core and pelvic floor properly. After discussing with other mums and personal trainers, it became apartent that we are only ever told to do kegels and this unfortunately is not the way to heal properly.

Training and learning about the importance of breath and how to recruit and engage the deep core muscles (transverse abdominals) inspired me to create this platform so that it would be available for everyone postpartum - whether it be a new mum or if you had your children 15 years ago.

By using these techniques and changes to the way you breathe, it will enable you to create a strong and functional core and pelvic floor, allowing you to live an active lifestyle now and in the future.

A little more about my background: I have a degree in Sport and Exercise Science, a Masters in Nutrition, trained as a Massage Therapist in the USA, as a Hatha yoga teacher in Thailand and I am currently finishing training as a Pre and Postnatal coach. I love the human body and it constantly amazes me what the body is capable of. I became even more in awe of the human body after watching my body change, adapt and recover after each of my pregnancies.

I hope you find value in this training and thank you for stopping by.
